Ipoh Railway Station

Updated: Sep 4

In 1914 architect AB Hubback designed Ipoh Railway Station in a similar fashion as the Kuala Lumpur Railway Station which he had designed earlier. The station was completed in 1917.

The building embodied Neoclassical style with symmetry, balance and harmony. It is a three-storey building with three railway platforms behind.

The first floor of the building once housed a 17-room hotel with a wide front verandah which served as a lounge. A dining room was located at the centre under the octagonal ceiling of the main dome. The ground floor had offices, a bar and a restaurant off the main platform.

The Ipoh Railway station is immensely popular amongst travelers using the KTM train services.
